    Three sales leads, one market each. Germany: Michaela Stich, +49 160 970 36804, michaela@darlot.co. Austria: Fabian Kaufmann, +43 676 3787000, fabian@darlot.co. Switzerland: Marcus Köhnlein, +41 79 620 72 54, marcus@darlot.co. Reply within one business day, guaranteed.

  • 04What sets Darlot apart from a classical guard company?+

Classical guard firms sell hours of personnel with shifts, breaks and variable quality. Darlot sells protection effect. AI classifies in milliseconds, our own 24/7 control room in Europe decides per your rules, personnel come only when the system has a reason. Result: predictable cost, fewer false alarms, documented response to every incident.

  • 05How much does Darlot reduce false alarms?+

Up to 95% versus classical motion detection. Classical systems report 90–98% false alarms. Our AI classifies between intruder, employee, animal and harmless motion; every alarm carries a reasoning path with rule, region, confidence and model version.

  • 06Is this all GDPR and EU AI Act compliant?+

Yes, by design. Edge-first architecture, EU hosting, data minimisation with zones and masks per site, configurable retention periods. Every detection carries audit artefacts and model cards for the EU AI Act. No US or China API, no black-box cloud.

  • 07Can I add Darlot to my existing cameras?+

Yes. Video analytics is hardware-agnostic; we connect via standard protocols (RTSP/ONVIF) to your existing cameras. You don't need to replace a single device to turn passive recording into an active security system.

  • 08What happens when the AI detects an incident?+

Multi-channel alarm in under 60 seconds via SMS, email, WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal or call, per your escalation plan. One-tap access to the live camera if you want to decide yourself. Otherwise our operators in the 24/7 control room take over, see, speak and escalate in real time.

  • 09How does this compare with own guard personnel costs?+

A single guard in DACH costs €4,000–6,000/month before overheads; 24/7 shift coverage quickly €25,000–35,000. Plus illness, holiday and turnover risk. Darlot covers the same area technically at a fraction, with documented performance and no personnel risk.

  • 10What about contract terms?+

AI video analytics and mobile security towers run with a 12-month minimum term. Quarero robots, due to hardware stationing and individual site programming, have a 24-month minimum. Enterprise and KRITIS configurations typically run as framework contracts with 12–24 months. You receive a clear breakdown before booking — no hidden clauses.

  • 11Can I test Darlot first?+

For AI video analytics and towers, book a Starter or Compact setup via the live price calculator and use it for 12 months. For KRITIS or special objects we arrange an on-site demo, usually directly with DACH sales.

  • 12Which industries already deploy Darlot?+

Commercial real estate, industry and logistics, construction, parking areas, critical infrastructure (energy, water, utilities) and special objects (museums, research, data centres, events). Six domains, one platform, every configuration documented on the /einsatzgebiete page.

  • 13In one sentence: why work with Darlot?+

Because you buy a protection effect, not staff hours, with transparent prices, 48 h activation, our own EU control room and a reasoning path per detection that holds up to auditors and authorities.

General

  • 14How does DARLOT video surveillance work?+

Our mobile monitoring units watch your premises during the time windows you define using intelligent image analysis. The cameras reliably distinguish between persons, vehicles and harmless motion and, in case of an event, send an alarm to our 24/7 staffed security control room. There, trained specialists check the footage in real time, verify the incident and – if required – initiate immediate measures.

  • 15Which monitoring variants does DARLOT offer?+

Our portfolio covers a wide range of deployment scenarios. For mains-powered sites we offer grid-connected towers with multiple infrared cameras delivering reliable detection day and night. For off-grid areas we provide autonomous solar and fuel-cell solutions. Compact variants suit smaller storage areas, container yards or indoor spaces. On request we add a sensor fence for particularly sensitive areas.

  • 16What does mobile video surveillance mean?+

Mobile video surveillance describes flexible, quickly installable security systems that can be operated at various sites without elaborate construction work. This approach is particularly suitable for temporary deployments – e.g. construction sites, events or transitional storage – combining high-quality imaging with precise motion detection.

  • 17Can solar and wind power plants also be monitored?+

Yes. DARLOT systems are excellently suited to protect photovoltaic and wind power installations. These sites are often remote and particularly exposed to theft of copper cabling, inverters and modules.

  • 18Which areas can DARLOT monitor?+

In principle any clearly defined area can be secured. For data protection reasons the area must be clearly enclosed – e.g. by fences, walls or comparable boundaries. Typical deployment areas include construction sites, industrial plants, power stations, storage areas, ports, vacant buildings, event venues, car dealerships, renewable energy plants and agricultural operations.

  • 19How does a typical DARLOT project unfold?+

You are accompanied by a dedicated contact from the start. After a non-binding initial consultation we prepare an individual risk analysis and design the solution to fit your requirements. Our technical team then handles installation and commissioning including instruction. After commissioning we are continuously available for maintenance, adjustments and service.

  • 20How quickly is a DARLOT system operational?+

Our systems are usually operational within half an hour after setup. Normally we can secure your site within 24 hours of order placement – significantly faster in urgent cases.

  • 21What sets DARLOT apart from competitors?+

We make no compromises on technology. Our systems use high-resolution cameras with continuous area coverage – no pan pauses or dead times. Image analysis relies on proven algorithms to minimise false alarms. Development, production and operation of the entire chain are in our hands. Our own German-based control room handles alarm verification and coordinates the subsequent intervention.

Privacy

  • 22How does DARLOT ensure GDPR compliance?+

Under BDSG and GDPR, video surveillance must not capture public traffic areas, and the monitored area must be clearly marked. We mask out public areas permanently and irrevocably in software. Statutorily required signage is provided through clearly visible signs and large-format banners that also have a deterrent effect.

  • 23Doesn't video surveillance violate data protection?+

Properly planned video surveillance can be implemented fully GDPR-compliant. Decisive are clear purpose limitation, a sound legal basis – usually legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR –, an appropriate retention period and transparent information of data subjects. We are happy to advise in detail and support the data protection impact assessment.

  • 24Are images and videos stored in the event of an incident?+

Yes, storage is reasonable and customary for evidentiary preservation and to support police investigations. Recording is redundant – both in the device and in the control room – and at least HD quality. Our standard towers operate at five megapixels. Retention follows statutory requirements and can be tailored to your needs within GDPR.

  • 25Who has access to the footage?+

Footage is stored encrypted directly in the camera. Transmission to our control room is exclusively encrypted and only when image analysis detects a relevant incident. Access is limited to authorised, trained control room staff. Disclosure to third parties – e.g. law enforcement – occurs only within the legally permitted framework.

  • 26Can certain areas be masked?+

Of course. Public areas must be masked by law. Beyond that, on request we can permanently mask any further zones – such as neighbouring properties or specific windows – via privacy masking.

  • 27Are residents bothered by DARLOT?+

There is usually no reason. We mainly use thermal and infrared technology whose illumination is invisible to the human eye. Only the commissioned property is monitored; adjacent public and private areas are software-blacked and are not visible in the system. Only the speaker activated in case of alarm may be audible – contributing to the safety of the whole surroundings.

Operation

  • 28Who decides what happens in the event of an alarm?+

As the customer you define before the start of monitoring who should be notified – e.g. the police, a specific guard service or an internal contact. Our control room team is happy to advise.

  • 29Who covers damage from break-ins or vandalism?+

Our systems are insurance-certified. We carry significant own risk for our customers and back up our monitoring service with comprehensive liability insurance. In case of damage we work transparently with you and, where applicable, your own property insurance.

  • 30How many towers are needed?+

It depends on site size, topography and risk assessment. We come on site, prepare an individual risk analysis and derive a concrete recommendation. The final decision on number and placement is yours.

  • 31Does DARLOT also offer off-grid solutions?+

Yes. For sites without power supply we have autonomous systems running on a combination of fuel cell, photovoltaics and battery pack. The solution operates with low emissions and is admissible even in nature reserves – unlike classical diesel or petrol generators.

  • 32How does DARLOT cooperate with the police?+

Already during project planning we identify the responsible police station and inform them about the project. In case of alarm we can ensure a smooth intervention. On request we provide footage for criminal investigations – exclusively within the legally permitted framework.

  • 33Does DARLOT also cooperate with private guard services?+

Yes. Customers freely decide who is contacted in case of alarm. We can both cooperate with your existing security service provider and recommend a suitable partner.

  • 34How is it ensured that only real incidents trigger alarms?+

We use object-based image analysis distinguishing relevant events from harmless motion such as animals, snowfall or insects. Every alarm generated by the system is additionally verified by trained control room personnel before any reaction is triggered.

  • 35Are recordings made around the clock?+

You define the activation times together with us – e.g. weekdays 17:00 to 06:00 and continuously on weekends. Activation times can be adjusted at any time by phone via our control room. This flexibility is decisive especially on construction sites or for major events.

Costs

  • 36Are all costs included in the offer price?+

Yes. With DARLOT all monitoring costs – including alarm verification and intervention by our control room – are included in the agreed price. We deliberately avoid event-based follow-up costs that with some providers can exceed pure rental costs. You retain full cost control over the entire contract term.

  • 37Isn't a classic guard service cheaper?+

Generally not. Personnel costs for guards are substantial and continuously rising. In addition, human surveillance can be patchy at times – breaks, shift changes, limited night vision. Our technical solution operates continuously and reproducibly. Personal security service still has its place; we recommend complementary solutions where required.

  • 38What about occasional patrol drives?+

From our perspective, a patrol drive with two or three rounds per night is not enough to prevent thefts. At best the patrol service notes a break-in that has already occurred. A locking inspection at the start of the night remains useful – but does not replace continuous monitoring.

Technology

  • 39How does data transmission work?+

In case of alarm our control room receives the live image and can access cameras and speakers. Transmission uses specially selected IoT SIM cards that automatically use the strongest available mobile network – 3G, 4G/LTE or 5G. We thus ensure a stable connection even in remote areas.

  • 40How great is the range of DARLOT systems?+

Range depends on the deployed model. Our standard model has three cameras with guaranteed detection ranges up to 80 metres on two axes and 40 metres on a third. Autonomous models with thermal technology likewise detect intruders up to 80 metres. For smaller areas a compact system with around 30 metres range and roughly 100° field of view is sufficient. For special applications – e.g. wind industry – solutions with line of sight up to 250 metres are available.

  • 41How large is the possible monitoring area?+

Worst-case conditions are decisive, since perpetrators prefer darkness and bad weather. Our systems reliably detect under such conditions up to 80 metres distance and cover an area up to 170°. These values are verified by independent third-party measurements.

  • 42Are there blind spots directly at the mast?+

By construction a near-area of the mast is not covered by the main cameras. We solve this with an additional special camera covering this near-area and preventing unnoticed approach.

  • 43What happens in case of power outage or sabotage?+

Our grid-connected systems have an integrated battery ensuring at least 24 hours of full operation in case of power interruption – including optional lighting. The mast thus remains operational at night until a technician arrives. For permanent off-grid use we offer solar fuel-cell systems running for months without external power supply.

  • 44How quickly are system failures detected?+

Our systems continuously check their own functions through software-supported routines. As soon as a component reports an anomaly the control room receives a service alarm. Our technical on-call service operates around the clock and ensures the fastest possible remedy.

  • 45Do insects or weather trigger false alarms?+

No. We use object-based video analysis reliably filtering out such motion patterns. Since our systems do not depend on visible illumination they also attract significantly fewer insects than classic lamp systems.

  • 46Is alarm handling done via your own control room?+

Yes. The strength of a monitoring system depends on the weakest link in the chain. We therefore operate our own German-based control room with specially trained staff and processing software tailored to our systems. This domestic presence is also essential for cooperation with German police authorities.
